Kaze to Ki no Uta

Takemiya Keiko's Kaze to Ki no Uta (The Song of the Wind and the Trees) is a shounen-ai classic full of drama and heart-breaking tragedy. Set in late 19th century Provence, France, the story begins with the meeting of two students at an all-boys school. Dark-haired Serge and his new roommate, the beautiful Gilbert, clash at once - the former being kind-hearted and pure while the latter is the school prostitute, cold and cruel. Peer pressure tells Serge to stay clear of Gilbert, who can only mean trouble and scandal. But as time passes, Serge realizes that underneath his roommate's icy and wanton demeanor, there is a boy desperately in need of affection. With this realization, Serge becomes determined to show Gilbert that two people can indeed share both emotional and physical love.
