Book & Anime Information
Manga & Illustration Books:
Starting in January 1976, the series ran in the magazine Weekly Shoujo Comic, which is published by Shougakukan. There are 14 tankoubon in the original release under Shougakukan's Flower Comics and they are now out-of-print. Hakusensha, another well-known publishing company, has re-released Kaze under their bunko line with 10 volumes total. These are smaller and have fancier covers but are missing the nice color illustrations found on the covers of the original release.

Shougakukan has also re-released Kaze under their Shousho line, but these books are for die-hard fans, being larger and more expensive (1165 yen + tax per book!). The shousho publications are pretty much the same as the original release except they contain color pages and more sophisticated looking covers. Thanks to Slash-kun for the information!

There is also a Takemiya Keiko illustration book that features colored images from Kaze. It's titled "Umi no Tenshi" (Angel of the Sea), and the publisher is Kadokawa Shoten. Deemed as "hard to find" by an online Japanese bookstore, I figure it's probably already out of print. But I would still really like to get my hands on it! Thanks to Erin for the cover scan on the right. (^_^) |

The Animated Movie:
A 60 minute movie called "Kaze to Ki no Uta -Sanctus-" came out in 1987. Though an hour is hardly enough time to tell the whole Kaze story, in my opinion, the anime successfully captures the feel and style of the manga. The character designs are beautiful, and the soundtrack is lovely. If you're interested in obtaining a copy of the movie, the Techno-Girls
have graciously fan-subbed it. Thanks to the Techno-Girls for the screen capture of Gilbert!
Both the VHS tape and LD for the movie are now out of print. But if you'd like
to it hunt down just the same, here's some ordering info (LD only):
