Laiyven Presents: Catchin' Up With Siva Blues

Note: Catchin' Up With Siva Blues takes place in the 1980's (about 10 years after CoA & WLF) when Siva and Dion are part of the visual rock band Seelie Court. Laiyven covers the events that happened between the end of WLF and the beginning of the Seelie Court Era. Contains some sexual content.

Laiyven: ::walks in dressed from head to toe in blue, a fedora on his head and large black sunglasses on his nose. He sits on a stool center stage and whips out a compact mirror, checking his lipstick and powder before picking up an acoustic guitar, plucking at it in a bluesy rhythm before stopping with a gasp and whipping off his sunglasses:: Dammit!! I broke a nail!!

Rhye: ::offstage:: I don't care! I didn't pay you to whine!! Come on!! I want to get Siva's fic out there!

Laiyven: ::glares offstage for a moment before replacing his sunglasses with a sigh and setting down the guitar in favor of a sparkly purple electric bass, plunking out a jazzy riff and looking up again:: It was a long time ago in the foggy London bayou-

Rhye: LONDON DOESN'T HAVE A BAYOU!!!

Laiyven: ::growl:: Look-you hired me to catch everyone up as a blues man, so let me do the blues my way!

Rhye: ::groans:: Oh god..

Laiyven: ::sniffs:: .in the foggy London BAYOU ::glare:: where Siva and Tai were reunited. ::plunk, plunk, plunk:: and life.. it was slow, baby, real slow, and they took each day one at a time livin' together in harmony like. It was a beautiful thing to see.. Me and my sons.. we remembered it well.

Laiyven swept through the door, Kira in one arm and Kae in the other. "Hellooooooo, darlings!!"

Siva choked on his cereal, glancing up at Laiyven. "Do you ever make less than a grand entrance?"

Laiyven winked, setting Kira down as he squealed to be let go of and smiled fondly as the toddler dashed straight to Siva, clinging to his legs.

Siva chuckled softly, lifting the red haired toddler onto his lap and kissing his head.

Laiyven winked. "He likes you, dear."

Siva cuddled the child and looked at Laiyven over the fuzzy red head. "Doesn't everyone?"

Laiyven snorted, handing Kae to Tai who began to immediately tickle him amidst Kae's shrieks of laughter.

"So what brings you here, O Goddess-ly papa?" Siva's eyes twinkled as the child played with his hair and made a face at him.

Laiyven waved a hand, hopping up onto the counter and crossing his legs gracefully. "Just here to remind you that it is officially your one year anniversary!"

Siva and Tai exchanged glances. "It is?" Tai asked blankly.

Laiyven winked. "See? I knew you'd forget. So 'Ari and I took the liberty of treating you to each other."

Siva blinked, looking at Tai again. "We have an anniversary?"

Laiyven: ::plunkety plunk:: Like I said-reeeeeal slow. Now as much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news-almost as much as I hate to be the bearer of anything heavy or that requires effort-I was the bearer of the baddest news poor Siva was likely to get for a long time. ::plunk plunk plunk-ta plunk:: But that was a coupl'a years later see.. when I'd had a bit of bad news myself. ::ka-plunk::

Rhye: Oi! This is Siva's story!

Laiyven: ::glares and grips his bass until it emits a low whine:: Will you just leave me alone you crazy fic writer?? This is part of the plot! I'm setting mood, dammit!! ::calms himself visibly and pushes his sunglasses back up:: Oh yes. I'd had some bad news myself, see. ::plunk-plunk:: my son Kira, man.. ::plunk plunk:: he was kidnapped. ::kaplunk:: and I got the blues so bad. I got the blues for years, man. But you learn and go on.

::phone number flashes on screen along with the words "REWARD for information regarding the lost Shiiji prince Kirameki!"::

Rhye: ::GROAN::

Laiyven: ::brief glare:: You'd have 'em too, you know. If you lost your little fire baby, your little red haired Kirameki. And Siva was torn up bad too. He'd gotten real attached to the little darlin'. ::plunketa plunk:: We all were. ::bows his head for a moment of silence:: and so he was already hurtin' fierce when I showed up with my news.

::fade into flashback no. 2::

Laiyven entered, all dressed from head to toe in comparatively sober black velvet, leading a three-year-old Kae by the hand.

Siva glanced up at him curiously, smiling in sympathy as he held out his arms to Kae who crawled up onto his lap, nuzzling peacefully. "Still in mourning, Laiyven?"

Laiyven sighed. "I'll be in mourning until I know what happened to him, Siva. I miss him so much." Laiyven's voice caught and Tai quickly embraced him, holding him until Laiyven stopped shivering.

Laiyven sniffed slightly, looking up at them with a weak smile. "Look at me crying even after almost two years.. And I had good news too, Tai."

Tai blinked. "You did?"

Laiyven nodded. "Uh-huh. I just got a transmission from Denki on Shiiji."

"And?"

"Soku's alive."

Siva froze as Tai gasped, his face lighting up. "He's alive?!"

Laiyven nodded. "Very alive, apparently, and coming here tomorrow night."

Siva's arms tightened almost painfully around Kae who looked up at him curiously, asking in a small voice, "why are you shaking, Siva?"

::fade out of flashback no. 2::

Laiyven: ::shakes his head sadly, bent over the bass:: Well that was what Siva had been dreading, see? He knew that Tai would go back to Soku if he were alive, and as luck had it, he was real alive. And just burnin' to see Tai again. They all had me over to dinner, me and Kae both and while Siva and I were tucking Kae into bed, they hopped into Tai's bed over on the other side of the house and started going at it like a coupla bunny rabbits on fertility drugs. Never said Siva was lucky. ::ka-plunketa, plunketa, plunk:: never said that at all.

(a bluer light shines down on Laiyven from above)

Laiyven: ::plays a slow riff:: But see, it wasn't all bad. Siva still had Dion.

(Brief interlude of Siva and Dion going at it on the kitchen counter)

Laiyven: And Dion had Siva.

(Brief interlude of Siva and Dion going at it in the park)

Laiyven: And that was just fine with them.

(Brief interlude of Siva and Dion going at it in an elevator while a little old lady claws at the doors to get out.)

Laiyven: And one day with Dion, Siva had himself a real fine idea.

::fade into flashback no. 3::

Siva groaned, shuddering as Dion's lips wrapped around his erection and he threw his head back against the crimson pillows, tossing from side to side in a tangle of silken silver web, almost crying. "Oh god, Dion!!" He groaned in pain. "Fuck you, Dion, you tease!!"

Dion smirked, running his fingers around Siva's entrance, pressing lightly, a small smile on his lips. "how much do you want it, Den?"

"Nnnnng!"

Dion laughed, scratching Siva's balls with his fingernails and licked a nipple. 'Nuh-uh, Siva. You have to beg for it."

Siva let out a howl as Dion's fingers tightened. "Fine!! Damn it, Dion, fuck me!"

Dion thrust hard into Siva, pumping into him brutally as Siva yowled, clutching at the blankets, shredding them in his fingers before throwing his head back in a howl of passion as he came.

::fade out of flashback no 3.::

Laiyven :::sexy riff:: and that there's when Siva got himself the idea to form a rock and roll band named Seelie Court. Funny old life, isn't it? Everyone knew that Den's twin bro, Kir, was a mighty fine bass player, but who'd'a thought Dion had the rhythm of twenty tap dancers on Coke? And who of us what knew old Siva from the Academy would have suspected that he was quite the musician he turned out to be? .quite the musician. But he didn't sing ::plunk plunk:: not even a note, man. And a rock and roll band ::plunketa plunk:: really needs a singer.

::fade into flashback no. 4::

"Look," Siva sighed, rubbing his eyes. "We're auditioning for a singer, not a guitarist."

The musician with the blue black hair shook it away from his eyes and gave Siva the most arrogant look he'd ever seen outside of a mirror. "You have to hear me first."

Siva groaned. "Look-I told you we don't need-"

He stopped as a sparkling cascade of notes swept from the shining blue Strat, eyes widening as an underlying growl rose, sweeping them away into a wailing pounding rhythm that sounded for the world like war. Even Dion and Kir stopped what they were doing to watch the long tapered fingers with the chipped black nail-polish drag sounds from a guitar that shouldn't be able to make those sounds. The song faded away with an abrupt howl and the man set it down, smiling faintly as he held out his hand to Siva.

"I'm Omen."

"Siva." He shook the offered hand. "Want to join a band?"

::fade out of flashback no. 4::

Laiyven: ::noodling on the bass, realizes he's on and gives a quick bluesy riff:: So they didn't have a singer. Siva figured with a sound like theirs, him on the piano and that Omen on guitar, they had a sure fire winner and man oh man did they wail. Dion thought so too; he even dipped into his hard hoarded cash to pay for a little recording session, and Age of Chivalry records was born.

::holds up an album with Siva as Death, Omen as Famine, Dion as War, and Kir as Pestilence on the cover::

Laiyven: A little session they called Parliament. And it was such a hit. and turns out, life does work in funny ways 'cause as soon as they had that hit, they went and found their vocalist. Or he found them.

::fade into Flashback no. 5::

Siva sat in the smoky backstage with Dion, eyes hooded as he watched the other bands prepare for their turn on stage. As a newly released and well-regarded indies band, Seelie Court was to wait for the height of the evening. And as always, Siva was bored as hell.

He caught Dion's arm and nodded towards the dance floor. "I'm going out."

"We've got a set in thirty minutes."

Siva snorted. "You think I'm planning to sit around back here with His Royal Highness Omen? Think again." He winked and flipped the long silvery hair from his face and wound his way onto the dance floor, spinning with the music and then whirling at a touch on his arm to find a shorter man with bright blue hair. He winked and bumped into Siva, grinning and nodding to the stage.

Siva laughed at the simplicity of the universal language of clubs. Couldn't hear a thing above the music, but there were always ways to communicate. Lifting his arms above his head in a winding dance, Siva spun, landing face to face with the shorter man, the two dancing like wildmen together, each trying to outdo the other, laughing so hard they could barely keep dancing.

Siva and the other man collapsed against each other laughing as they realized that other dancers were backing away from their wild swinging competition in fear. Siva hit him on the back and led him to the bar, buying them both drinks. He held out his hand, charmed beyond measure by the blue-haired youth before him. "Name's Siva," he shouted over the din.

"Teal! Nice to meet you!"

Siva glanced at the clock, wincing, and reached into his pocket, pulling out a calling card and slipped it into Teal's hand. "I've gotta go! Call me?"

"Sure!" Teal winked back at him and then leaned forward before Siva could react and licked his cheek, grinning. "Yummy!"

Siva turned red and laughed, hurrying back through the crowd to get ready for their set and could see Teal dancing in the front of the crowd all through the first five songs and he played just to him, acting it up, arching with his violin like a live-wire, twisting to the screams of the audience, his teased mane of hair lit seemingly from within with the molten red, blue, and green of the stage spotlights.

It was something he loved, and something he knew he was good at. Some critics called it ego, Siva called it well deserved. He was good, and he wanted to share it.

He almost didn't notice until the end that Teal was gone, disappeared from the front of the audience, and he tried to hide the irrational disappointment that wormed its way through his chest.

_Come on, Siva. you just met him._

He forced a burst of energy through himself for the finale, whirling, spinning, he and his violin one with the music, his hair a flying tangle of silver, taking on all the colors of the spectrum under club lighting before the flash of light and crash of Dion's cymbals that ended their act.

Despite the disappointment of Teal's disappearance, Siva was laughing as he ran backstage with Dion, enough adrenaline pumping through him left over for him to pick Dion up and spin him around.

Dion did a little dance when he was set down. "We are on our way up, baby!! We are on our way up!"

Siva poked him grinning. "Admit it. You're only happy about it for the money."

Dion winked. "Well.. that too, but I kinda like the sex best."

Siva groaned and punched him in the arm. "You never change."

Dion winked. "Would you want me to?"

Siva rolled his eyes and was about to retort when Omen grabbed his arm, pointing out onstage. "Watch them."

"Who?"

"Le Fanu."

"Why?"

Omen growled softly. "Come on. Everything's a joke with you! They're our competition. Watch them."

Siva sighed, shrugging him off. "Alright, alright. Come on, Di. Let's hit the audience."

"Right with ya."

Siva stretched mightily, steeling his nerves before wading back in, more subdued this time, the performance having taken most of his energy. But a growling beat pulsed from the speakers, broken by the high wail of a guitar and a silky-rough purring voice that set Siva's hair on end in the darkened room.

"In truth, I know not why I am so sad;
It wearies me, you say it wearies you;
But how I got it-came by it.
And now this heart belongs to me too."

The light rose slowly and Siva stood, mesmerized. The singer was Teal. The crowd parted before him as he moved, opening and closing smoothly behind him before he stood directly beneath the vocalist and danced, danced for him alone.

As soon as the set ended, Siva all but ran to the backstage to catch Teal before he could get away only to find the drummer of the three-man Le Fanu yelling at him. "Dumb fuck!! Can't you remember when you're supposed to hit your fucking cue?"

Teal cringed away from him, hands spread defensively. "I'm sorry, man-I-"

"You're the fucking sorriest excuse for a vocalist we've ever had." The bassist towered over him, trembling in rage.

"Dumb shit can't walk and chew gum at the same time and you think he can sing and play at the same time?"

The guitarist feinted towards Teal who flinched away with a small sound of fear. He then snarled softly, and moved to backhand him. Teal looked up in astonishment when the expected blow never landed to see Siva's own hand clenched around the bassist's wrist, their eyes locked, and both growling.

"I liked the show." Siva's voice was low, musical, with undertones of deep menace.

The drummer snorted, tossing his sticks in the duffel bag and zipping it impatiently. "Then you've got less taste in music than you do in clothes. Idiot there wouldn't know his cue if it bit him on the ass."

Siva ignored the jibe and narrowed his eyes, fingers tightening on the bassists wrists until the other man winced in pain. "Write better cues."

"Fine. Fuck. Let him sing for your band. None of the four of you can sing a note to save your lives."

Siva's eyes narrowed. "I think I will." He shoved at the bassist, smiling coldly and then turned to Teal, eyebrow raised. "Well.? So? What do you say? Want to join Seelie Court?"

::fade out of flashback no. 5::

Laiyven: ::playing "Another One Bites the Dust" and realizes he's on, blushing:: Sorry. so that's where Siva met Seelie Court's future vocalist, Teal. Turns out, the guy was a fine guitarist too. Damned good even if he had a habit of forgetting he was supposed to be doing both at the same time. Almost got 'em in trouble more than once. Tripped over a wire when he was runnin' to the mic and fell flat on his face. ::downward slide on the bass, ka-plunk:: But Teal was a good guy to have around. A real good guy, Siva's best buddy. And with him, Seelie Court really got off the ground. ::plays a series of riffs, tapping his foot and swaying to the music:: so there you have it, folks. The "Catchin' up with Siva Blues" for one and all. And for blues, man, they aren't too blue, are they? ::plunketa plunk:: for now. Maybe kinda teal instead. ::winks and the lights fade out::
